Local award-winning fringe theatre Upstairs at Three and Ten hosts three rarely-performed one-act plays by Václav Havel; world-renowned playwright, one-time imprisoned dissident and the first President of Czechoslovakia.
Written between 1975 and 1978 these three one-act works are from Havel's unique collection of Vanek Plays; short stylistically varied snapshots of life in Czechoslovakia under the Communist regime. Bizarre, menacing and morally challenging, each one is inhabited by the authors' alter-ego: Vanek. |
