Philip Jeays and Friends

Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Philip Jeays and his band continue their residency with Upstairs at Three and Ten. Jeays carries the influence of Jacques Brel and the Gallic chanson tradition, all bound by a dry English wit. The show will also feature guests of Philip's choosing.

Philip Jeays has been described as 'a real find' (Telegraph), 'unique' (Guardian), 'vulnerable, vitriolic and cruelly observant' (Glasgow Herald), and as singing songs 'delivered with a sometimes frightening intensity and an often gleeful amount of bile' (Financial Times). They are 'superbly crafted songs, written with a poetic sensibility that is imbued with bitter irony and mordant wit' (Morning Star), and they range from the funny and sarcastic to the romantic and bittersweet. He does not vote Conservative and he thinks your god is stupid.

He has appeared on Radio 3 (The Verb, Kit and the Widow's Cabaret Cocktails) and Radio 4 (Chanson, Singing in the Wilderness), and at venues around the country, most recently supporting Robin Ince on tour.
